Getting Started
Set up MR Multi Model AI Coder and get a public URL for your VS Code in minutes.
1. Install the Extension
Open VS Code and search for "MR Multi Model AI Coder" in the Extensions marketplace (Ctrl+Shift+X), or install from the command line:
code --install-extension mr-innovations.mr-multi-coderAfter installation, you'll see the MR Multi Model AI Coder icon in the sidebar. Click it to open the settings panel.
2. Install cloudflared
Tunnels require the cloudflaredtunnel client. The extension will detect it automatically — if it's not found, you'll see an install prompt. Install it for your platform:
# macOS
brew install cloudflared
# Windows (using winget)
winget install Cloudflare.cloudflared
# Windows (using Chocolatey)
choco install cloudflared
# Linux (Debian/Ubuntu)
curl -fsSL https://pkg.cloudflare.com/cloudflare-main.gpg | \
sudo tee /usr/share/keyrings/cloudflare-main.gpg > /dev/null
echo "deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/cloudflare-main.gpg] \
https://pkg.cloudflare.com/cloudflared $(lsb_release -cs) main" | \
sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/cloudflared.list
sudo apt update && sudo apt install -y cloudflaredVerify: run cloudflared --version in a new terminal window. See the full installation guide for RHEL, Arch, and other distros.
3. Enable Web Remote Access
In the settings panel, expand the "Web Remote Access" section and toggle Enable Web Access on. This starts a local VS Code Web server with built-in authentication.
You'll be prompted to create an admin user (email + password) before the server can start. This user is used to log in when accessing VS Code from a browser.
4. Create Your mr-coder.io Account
Visit mr-coder.io/register to create a free account. This account is used to link your devices, manage tunnel domains, and control your subscription.
A subscription plan is required to create tunnel domains. Plans start at $4/month (Basic — 5 tunnel domains). You can link your device to your account at any time for free.
5. Connect Your Device
In the settings panel, expand the "Remote Tunnels" section and click "Connect to mr-coder.io". This opens your browser where you sign in and approve the device link.
Once approved, the extension shows your account email and a "Connected" badge. Your VS Code installation is now linked to your mr-coder.io account.
6. Create a Tunnel Domain
Once connected, the Remote Tunnels section shows a form to create your primary domain. Choose a subdomain (e.g. my-workspace) and a zone (e.g. mr-coder.io). The resulting URL looks like:
https://my-workspace.mr-coder.ioThe primary domain routes to your VS Code Web server. Click "Create Domain" and your tunnel is ready.
7. Connect & Access
After creating the domain, click "Connect" to start the tunnel. Once the status shows "Online", open your public URL in any browser — you'll see the login page. Sign in with the user credentials you created in Step 3.
That's it — you now have full VS Code running in the browser, accessible from anywhere in the world.
Additional Tunnel Domains
Need to expose other ports? Below the primary domain, click "Add Domain" to create additional tunnel domains for any local port (e.g. a dev server on 3000, an API on 8080, a database UI on 8081).
Each additional domain gets its own unique subdomain (e.g. my-api.mr-coder.io) and can be started or stopped independently. You can set an auto-expire timer so temporary tunnels clean themselves up automatically.
Additional domains count toward your plan's tunnel limit. See Managing Tunnels for details on limits and multi-port routing alternatives.
