Install in Any IDE
MR Multi Coder works in any editor built on the VS Code engine — Cursor, Antigravity, Windsurf, VSCodium, code-server, and more.
Three installation methods are available: Marketplace (easiest), CLI command, or VSIX sideload (works everywhere).
Three Ways to Install
Marketplace
Search "MR Multi Coder" in the Extensions panel. Works in VS Code, Cursor, and IDEs with Marketplace access.
CLI Command
Run [ide] --install-extension mr-innovations.mr-multi-coder replacing [ide] with your editor's CLI name.
VSIX Sideload
Download the .vsix file, then install via "Extensions: Install from VSIX" in Command Palette. Works in every VS Code-based IDE.
IDE-Specific Guides
VS Code (Official)
The primary target. Install directly from the Marketplace or via CLI.
Open VS Code, go to the Extensions sidebar (Ctrl+Shift+X), search for "MR Multi Coder", and click Install.
Run: code --install-extension mr-innovations.mr-multi-coder
Click the MR icon in the Activity Bar. Pick a provider, set your API key, and start chatting.
Cursor IDE
Cursor is a VS Code fork — all extensions work natively. MR Multi Coder gives you 9 additional AI providers alongside Cursor's built-in AI.
Click the Extensions icon in the sidebar or press Ctrl+Shift+X. Search for "MR Multi Coder".
Cursor connects to the VS Code Marketplace by default. Click "Install" just like in VS Code.
Open Cursor's terminal and run: cursor --install-extension mr-innovations.mr-multi-coder (Cursor uses "cursor" as its CLI command instead of "code").
Download the .vsix file from the Marketplace. In Cursor, open Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P), run "Extensions: Install from VSIX...", and select the file.
MR Multi Coder runs independently from Cursor's built-in AI. You can use both simultaneously — Cursor for inline completions, MR Multi Coder for agentic chat tasks with your choice of 9 providers.
Antigravity IDE
Antigravity IDE is built on the VS Code engine and supports standard VS Code extensions.
Open Antigravity's Extensions panel (Ctrl+Shift+X). If you see a VS Code Marketplace connection, search for "MR Multi Coder" and install directly.
Download the latest .vsix from the VS Code Marketplace page (click the Download Extension button). In Antigravity, run "Extensions: Install from VSIX..." from the Command Palette.
If Antigravity provides a CLI (check their docs), run: antigravity --install-extension mr-innovations.mr-multi-coder (replace 'antigravity' with their actual CLI command).
After install, you should see the MR icon in the Activity Bar. Click it to open the conversations sidebar.
Windsurf (Codeium)
Windsurf is Codeium's VS Code fork. It supports VS Code extensions with some limitations on marketplace access.
Go to the VS Code Marketplace page for MR Multi Coder. Click "Download Extension" to get the .vsix file.
Open Windsurf, press Ctrl+Shift+P, type "Extensions: Install from VSIX...", and select the downloaded .vsix file.
After installation, reload the window (Ctrl+Shift+P → "Developer: Reload Window"). The MR icon appears in the Activity Bar.
VSCodium
VSCodium is the MIT-licensed build of VS Code without Microsoft telemetry. It uses the Open VSX registry by default.
If MR Multi Coder is published on Open VSX, install directly from VSCodium's Extensions panel. Search for "MR Multi Coder".
Download the .vsix from the VS Code Marketplace. In VSCodium, run "Extensions: Install from VSIX..." from the Command Palette.
Run: codium --install-extension path/to/mr-multi-coder.vsix
To access the VS Code Marketplace directly, edit VSCodium's product.json and add the VS Code gallery endpoint. See the VSCodium docs for "How to use the VS Code Marketplace".
code-server (Browser)
Run VS Code in the browser via code-server. Perfect for remote development from any device.
If you haven't already: curl -fsSL https://code-server.dev/install.sh | sh
Run: code-server --install-extension mr-innovations.mr-multi-coder (or use the VSIX method from the Extensions panel in the browser).
Open code-server in your browser (default: localhost:8080). The MR Multi Coder sidebar works just like in desktop VS Code.
After Installation
Click the provider chip at the bottom of the chat panel. Choose from 9 backends: Claude (API key), MR Coder (OAuth connect), Kilo Code (CLI), OpenRouter, Ollama (local), Qwen, Codex, Gemini, or HuggingFace.
API-key providers prompt you via Command Palette. CLI providers auto-detect the installed CLI. For MR Coder, use the OAuth browser login.
Type a task and press Enter. The extension runs an agentic loop — reading files, editing code, running commands — and shows inline diffs for every change. Approve or reject each tool call.
No credit card needed for Kilo Code (9 free models), OpenRouter (16 free models), Ollama (unlimited local), Gemini (free tier), or HuggingFace (22 free models).
Frequently Asked Questions
Does MR Multi Coder conflict with my IDE's built-in AI?
No. MR Multi Coder uses its own sidebar and does not interfere with Cursor's Copilot++, Windsurf's Cascade, or any built-in AI feature. You can use both simultaneously.
Can I use MR Multi Coder offline?
Yes, with the Ollama provider. Install Ollama on your machine, pull a model (e.g., llama3.3), and select the Ollama provider in the extension. No internet required.
What if my IDE doesn't support .vsix files?
If your IDE is truly VS Code-based, it supports .vsix. If it uses a different extension format entirely, MR Multi Coder is not compatible. Check if your IDE is listed as a VS Code fork.
Do I need a different license for each IDE?
No. MR Multi Coder is the same extension regardless of IDE. Your API keys and settings are stored per-IDE in VS Code's SecretStorage, but you can use the same provider accounts everywhere.
How do I update the extension in non-VS Code IDEs?
If the IDE has Marketplace access, updates are automatic. For VSIX installs, download the latest .vsix and re-install. The extension will update in place.
